Without a doubt, pizza is one of the favorite foods of children, young and not so young. When it comes to preparing a quick and tasty lunch or dinner, it is one of the most appetizing culinary resources. We already know that there are many recipes to prepare it but… Do you know some exotic ingredients to prepare pizza? Here, we’ll go over the most extravagant ones.

Exotic ingredients to make a pizza

The good thing about pizza is its versatility, almost any ingredient usually works, if you don’t ask the Greek Sam Panpopoulos, author of the most controversial pizza recipe; the Hawaiian one. Here are some exotic ingredients you can try:

  1. Kangaroo: This is a typical Australian ingredient, which is still quite exotic here.

Kangaroo meat is low in fat and tastes similar to beef but a little stronger. Sometimes pizza with this ingredient can be accompanied by other native meats, such as crocodile or emu.

  1. Seafood: In Japan, pizzas made with toppings based on ingredients typical of the country’s cuisine are common, such as squid ink, squid or octopus.
  2. Fish: It is quite common to use salmon or tuna in the pizza, but what is not so common is a recipe like the Mockba Pizza (Moscow) that combines four different types of fish in one pizza: sardines, salmon, mackerel and tuna.
  3. Indian: This is something typical of India, with ingredients such as tofu, paneer or Indian cheese, chicken tikka (baked and marinated in spices and yoghurt) and ginger.
  4. Gold and caviar: this recipe is available in a pizzeria in New York, which prepares it to order by giving notice a couple of days in advance. The dough is bathed in squid ink and covered with Stilton cheese, foie gras, truffles, caviar and 24-carat gold leaf. This raises some questions, like what will the gold taste like?
