If we talk about Italian cuisine, surely you can come up with a list of at least ten typical dishes. Many of our clients know many Italian dishes but very few of them are able to ‘put on the map’ the most popular dishes of this rich gastronomy.
Without further ado, we leave you with a little bit of the history of some of our favorite Italian dishes:
Minestrone is native to Ancient Rome. It is a type of soup based on seasonal vegetables (eg carrots, tomatoes, onions …) It is common that in addition to the vegetables rice or pasta is added.
In principle it is a 100% vegetarian dish but many people choose to incorporate meat products such as ham, bacon, etc. It is also common to serve it with some grated Parmesan cheese on top.
Would you like to try this light but delicious dish? is available among the antipasti </ em > our menu !
Carbonara was born in the Italian region of Lazio and usually accompanies spaghetti , although it is also common to take it with other types of pasta such as fettuccine. The traditional recipe includes the following ingredients: olive oil, guanciale, black pepper, pecorino cheese, and eggs.
Mushroom is also an ingredient that many chefs incorporate into carbonara.
Check if we like Carbonara spaghetti. In our menu we offer two different versions: ‘spaghetti carbonara’ (with bacon, egg and cream) and ‘spaghetti carbonara original recipe’ (with egg, parmesan cheese and guanciale). Which one do you prefer?
It is a very simple pizza, with very few ingredients but it is delicious. It is a Neapolitan pizza that usually has basil, salt and oil.
In our restaurant in Calpe we prepare it with delicious tomato, mozzarella and oregano.
It is probably not as well known as the rest of the dishes on this list but, without a doubt, it is one of the most popular pasta dishes in Antica Roma and that, by a little bit, was left out on our blog compilation of the 5 best dishes of our Trattoria . We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to tell you a little bit about him!
Arrabbiata is a very typical type of tomato sauce in Rome. Traditionally it has red chili, garlic, tomato and olive oil. Usually it is usually sprinkled with a little parsley sprinkled on top.
It is an intense dish, with a powerful flavor, which is reflected in its own name. Arrabbiato in Italian means furious.
At the Trattoria Antica Roma in Calpe you can taste some delicious Maccheroni Alla’Arrabbiata with our personal touch (it has olives, capers, chili peppers and tomato sauce).
This rich dessert is native to the Piedmont region . It reminds many people of flan, but its consistency is lighter (similar to gelatin) and in the mouth it is somewhat more dairy.
It is prepared with sugar, milk and gelling agents. You can also add vanilla, rum, strawberries, cream … and to top it off, it is decorated with fruits, syrups and / or jams. </ strong >
